New Debit Cards Coming April 10

The wait is over! It's time for an upgrade to your OakStar Bank debit card!

If you currently have a consumer debit card, consumer school mascot card, private banking platinum debit card, HSA card, or business debit card, you will be receiving a new card in the mail over the next few weeks (see below for exclusions). You will need to hold on to your new OakStar Bank debit card until you are able to activate it on Monday, April 10th. Until April 10th, you will continue to use your current OakStar Bank debit card. You may start keeping track of any automatic payments tied to your current OakStar Bank debit card as that will need to be updated once you activate your new card, which will have a new card number, expiration date, and CVV number.

Please take some time to read over the information below as it's very important in helping make sure your transition to your new OakStar Bank debit card goes as smoothly as possible. As always, your OakStar Bank team is here to help with any questions you may have at 417.447.0535.
Beginning Monday, March 13, the new debit cards will be placed in the mail to customers. Over the next week after that, customers will begin receiving their new cards in the mail.

When you receive your new debit card, you will need to keep it in a safe place until Monday, April 10th. Your new debit card cannot be activated until April 10th. You will continue to use your current OakStar Bank debit card until April 10th.

To prepare for Monday, April 10th, you can start keeping track of any places you have saved your current debit card or have an automatic payment tied to your current debit card. Since the new card numbers are changing, you will need to update payment information, such as a monthly gym payment, Netflix subscription, music streaming service, your Apple Wallet, and more that you might have tied to your current debit card. You will not be able to update this information with your new debit card number until Monday, April 10th, but it's best to be prepared to ensure a smooth transition.
The new OakStar debit cards will offer the below features in addition to a new, sleek appearance (school mascot cards will have the same appearance as the current card). The consumer debit, school mascot debit, private banking debit, business debit, and HSA debit will all be updated with the following:
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Contactless - tap to pay
  • My Card Rules - manage alerts and limits in the OakStar mobile app
  • Chip Technology - makes paying for your purchases more secure at chip-card terminals in the U.S. and abroad
  • 24/7 Fraud Monitoring
Shown above: HSA card (green), business debit (gray), consumer debit (white), and private banking platinum debit (black). Please note, customers with a school mascot card will still receive a new card and card number, but it will have the same look as the current school card.
If you opened a new OakStar Bank account and received a debit card OR if you received a new OakStar Bank debit card (with a new card number) after February 17th, 2023, you will not be receiving a new debit card and will continue to have the current OakStar Bank debit card design and functionality.

All other OakStar Bank debit card holders will be receiving a new card.
Monday, March 13th: New OakStar Bank debit cards will begin shipping out to customers. It may take up to a week to receive your new card in the mail.

The date you receive your new card through Monday, April 10th: You will need to hold on to your new OakStar Bank debit card until you can activate it on April 10th.

Over the weekend of Friday, April 7th - Sunday, April 9th: We do not anticipate any disruption to your existing debit card or OakStar Bank ATMs; however, we encourage you to be prepared with another form of payment in case you run into any issues.

Monday, April 10th: You will need to activate your new OakStar Bank debit card by calling 1.800.290.7893 and following the prompts. When you call this number, you will need to both activate your new card and set up your new PIN. This phone number will be included with your new debit card when you receive it in the mail.
Your current OakStar Bank debit card will no longer work after this date.
