One of the first levels of achieving confidence in the individuals that support you in the management of your financial affairs is knowing their background and qualifications. Following is a brief paragraph on the experience and education of each one of OakStar's Senior Management Team:

Randy Johnson
President and CEO

Mr. Johnson's career began as Vice President of United Missouri Bank. From there he moved to Empire Bank where he was a pivotal part of the management team serving as Vice President in Springfield, Manager of the Walnut Lawn facility and President of the Marshfield Bank. In 1997, he became a founding shareholder of The Bank, Springfield, and served as Chief Lending Officer, a position he maintained when The Bank merged with Signature Bank.

With 26 years of banking experience in the Springfield area, Randy brings extensive experience in both bank management and in asset quality evaluation. Before this new role, he served as Regional Loan Administrator for BancorpSouth, responsible for large relationship credit approval for the Missouri region.

Mike Lawson
Senior Executive Vice President, Chief lending officer 

Mr. Lawson has over 20 years of experience in banking in Springfield, Missouri. He worked as President of the Battlefield Branch of The Bank and The Signature Bank, Springfield, Missouri from January, 2001 until The Signature Bank merged with BancorpSouth in March, 2007. After the merger, from March 2007 to November 2008, he served as Senior Vice President of BancorpSouth Bank, Springfield, Missouri. His primary duties included Senior Lender for the Springfield Market and loan portfolio management of a $100 million loan portfolio. In November, 2008, he began work as Senior Lending Officer, Loan Production Office, First State Bank of Purdy in Springfield, Missouri.

As the Chief Lending Officer he manages all of the Bank's lending staff and activities, actively solicits new business and works with the President/CEO to oversee problem loans and their resolution. He is responsible for providing support, direction, credit information, and loan policies and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Bank's lending portfolio.

Mr. Lawson received a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from the University of Missouri in 1987 and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Drury University in 1992. He also graduated from the University of Colorado Graduate School of Banking in 1994.

Junior Lee (J.L.) Phillips
Senior Executive Vice President, Finance.

Mr. Phillips has 31 years of banking experience in Southwest Missouri. Before coming to OakStar Bank Mr. Phillips worked as Vice President of First State Bank of Purdy, Monett, Missouri and was Manager of the Loan Production Office in Springfield, Missouri. Prior to working for First State Bank of Purdy, Mr. Phillips worked for Empire Bank, Springfield, Missouri as the President of the Christian County division from October 1991 through January, 2008. At Empire Bank, his responsibilities included oversight of the bank's four county retail branches with total assets of over $150 million, development of deposit and income growth, and coordination of all personnel matters for the region. Prior to working for Empire Bank, Mr. Phillips served as a Vice President and Loan Officer for First State Bank of Purdy from 1987 through 1991 and Senior Vice President of United Missouri Bank of Monett, Monett, Missouri from 1977 through 1986.

Mr. Phillips received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri in 1967 and a Masters of Science in Education degree from Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri in 1971. He also received a degree from the Graduate School of Banking, University of Wisconsin in 1985.

Aaron Jernigan
Mortgage Banking pRESIDENT

Mr. Jernigan has over 20 years of experience in banking in Springfield, Missouri.  Mr. Jernigan worked as President of Mortgage Banking for The Bank in Springfield, Missouri from November 1999 to August 2004 and President of Mortgage Banking at The Signature Bank, also in Springfield, Missouri from January 2000 until The Signature Bank merged with Bancorp South in March 2007.  After the merger, from March 2007 to December 2009, he served as Senior Vice President of Bancorp South Bank in Springfield, Missouri.  His primary duties include managing the mortgage banking operation with offices in Springfield, Missouri as well as Kansas City, Missouri.  Along with his management responsibilities, Aaron has been ranked in the Top 200 Mortgage Originators in the Country by Mortgage Originator Magazine consistently over the past seven years.  With over $950 Million in personal career mortgage production, Aaron strives to continually take care of his customers and serve the industry with integrity. 

Mr. Jernigan received a Bachelor of Science in Finance degree from the Missouri State University in 1995.

MAtt Mcfail
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, Chief Financial OFficer

In this position Mr. McFail is responsible for the bank's accounting and maintains the direction of the bank's interest rate risk as well as overall funds management. Mr. McFail worked as a teller and accounting assistant for The Bank in Springfield from June 2000 until January 2004.  From there he worked as the Assistant Controller and Security Officer for The Signature Bank.  From March 2006 to January 2008, he worked as Assistant Controller and Security Officer for BancorpSouth Bank.  As Assistant Controller, Mr. McFail prepared bank financial records, board reports, budgets, and maintained accounting systems.  In January 2008 till November 2008 Mr. McFail worked at Mid-Missouri Bank in Springfield as the Accounting Officer.  Since March 2009 Mr. McFail has worked for OakStar as the Chief Financial Officer.  

Mr. McFail received a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Drury University in 2002.

MARk Bybee
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, SENIOR LOAN OFFICER

In this position Mr. Bybee is responsible for lending and business development of the bank.  Mr. Bybee started his career working at Mercantile Bank as commercial lender in 1997.  In 2002 he went to Commerce Bank as a team leader in the Commercial Lending area, and managed a portfolio of over$250 million.  In October of 2008 Mr. Bybee came to OakStar to head up the lending area and drive business development for the De Novo bank.  

Mr. Bybee received a Business degree from Southwest Baptist University in 1997 and a Master's degree in Business in 1999.

ROb Buchanan
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, Chief operations OFFICER

In this position Mr. Buchanan is responsible for the direction of the auditing and compliance department activities; providing leadership, training and supervision within the department to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and bank policies and procedures.

Mr. Buchanan started with OakStar as head of the bank's compliance department.  Prior to joining the OakStar team Mr. Buchanan served as a federal bank regulator with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).  His responsibilities included safety and soundness examinations for community banks in the Midwest.  Prior to working for the OCC Mr. Buchanan worked at Citizens National Bank as a teller and in the internal loan review and audit department. 

Mr. Buchanan received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Missouri State University in 2006 and a Master's degree in Business Administration in 2015.
